NOTE:  The current delivery of our services is very different to normal due to Covid-19

COVID-19 has meant that the charity has had to adapt how it delivers its services to the 75 families (200 adults and children) it supports. Face-to-face contact in the home has been replaced with remote support with volunteers using video calls and emails where possible, as well as the usual phone calls and text messages to continue supporting families.

It is likely this format/model will continue for the foreseeable future.  The safety and health of our supported families, volunteers and staff are our highest priority.

We continue to follow all public health and government legislation and guidance in relation to the safe delivery of our services and we take this very seriously.

Where possible and safe to do so we will begin to monitor how we can return to face-to-face support levels and opportunities to meet one-to-one and/or in groups within outdoor areas.

Many of our group sessions have transformed the group sessions into virtual online projects and this will continue for the foreseeable future.

Our Services

For over 32 years our aim has been to prevent family crisis and breakdown.

Our support provides crucial help for struggling young families in Aberdeen, who have at least one child aged 5 and under.

There’s no rule book for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming.  Many parents need friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young.

They may be socially isolated, without family or friends around them; experiencing poor mental health; living in poverty; coping with bereavement; dealing with relationship problems; affected by illness or disability; struggling to cope with what life is throwing at them.

Home-Start Aberdeen provide a support service where carefully selected and trained volunteers are there for families, visiting them in their own homes with compassionate, confidential help, backed by expert staff.

Volunteers support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children.

The earliest years make the biggest impact:  Home-Start make sure those years count so that no child’s future is limited.
