Our charity shop is located in the heart of the city at 101 George Street and it’s a great place to bag a bargain.  Shop profits are used to help fund our work supporting families in Aberdeen. 

Shop preloved with Home-Start Aberdeen and join the Reuse Revolution. Whether you’re looking to revamp your home or refresh your wardrobe, we have an amazing range of preloved clothing, furniture, homewares and so much more. 

Our Charity shop has been open for 10 years. To celebrate we are hosting a whole year of special events, beginning November 2022.

Shop with us

By shopping with us you can make your money go further, reduce waste, give the local economy a boost, and most importantly, help make a difference to families with young children in Aberdeen.  We stock a wide range of high quality, pre-loved items including: 

  • Clothing and shoes for men, women, children and babies

 Donate to us

Looking to de-clutter your home or give your wardrobe an overhaul?  Why not donate your unwanted items to our shop.  Because we’re a local charity, we are entirely dependent on donations from people and organisations in the local area. 

Donations can be dropped off at our shop in George Street between 10am and 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  It’s helpful if you phone the shop in advance on 01224 622390 to let us you know you will be coming in.   

We also offer a free donation uplift service in Aberdeen and Westhill – to find more call the shop on 01224 622390. 

We’re always grateful to receive undamaged, high-quality items.  We particularly need: 

  • Menswear, womenswear, childrenswear 
  • Handbags, shoes, scarves, jewellery and other accessories 
  • Prams, pushchairs, cots, highchairs and other baby equipment.  Please note we cannot accept car seats or cots
  • Curtains, tablecloths, rugs, vases, glasses, cups, plates and other homeware 
  • Toys, children’s books, games and puzzles 
  • Unused toiletries, unwanted gifts, bric-a-brac 
  • Vintage and collectable items 

We can’t accept: 

  • Damaged, stained or broken items (it will cost us money to dispose of them) 
  • Furniture 
  • White goods 
  • Electrical items 
  • Duvets and pillows 
  • Children’s car seats 

Don’t forget to ask shop staff about Gift Aid – if you’re eligible, this will add 25% to the value of your donation. 

Volunteer with us

Our ideal shop volunteer is a people-person with great communication skills and comfortable handling money and has great communication skills and Previous retail experience isn’t essential as full training is provided.  We have various shifts available from Monday to Saturday. 

Our Shop Volunteers: 

  • Meet and greet customers 
  • Organise and price donations in preparation for selling them 
  • Keep the shop floor and window displays well stocked, attractive and tidy 
  • Take cash and card payments 
  • Provide excellent customer service 
  • Our Volunteer Shop Drivers provide a donation collection service within Aberdeen 

We offer our Shop Volunteers

  • A chance to learn new skills 
  • A chance to gain experience in the retail sector 
  • The opportunity to make new friends and build social networks 
  • The opportunity to contribute to the vital work of Home-Start Aberdeen, supporting families with young children across the city
